Year of Manufacture for Special Preservation Swords

Special Preservation Swords are primarily from the Edo period (1603–1868) and the early Meiji period (1868–1912). However, many distinguished swords from earlier periods, such as the Muromachi period and Kamakura period, have also been designated. These swords are highly valued for their exceptional historical significance and artistic craftsmanship.

Grading System

  • Grade A+: Superior quality swords with exceptional historical value. Often crafted during the late Muromachi to early Edo period, these swords feature outstanding design and craftsmanship.
  • Grade S: Rare, top-tier swords of unparalleled artistry and preservation. These pieces are highly sought after by museums and serious collectors due to their exceptional beauty and rarity.
